Villa Renos Santorini Greece

We stayed at Villa Renos in Santorini Greece 4/28/24 to 5/1/24. We chose the Villa Renos based on the recommendation in the the 2018 Greece Guidebook (Fifth Edition). It is still run by Vassilis Matekas and still has a "great homemade breakfast that changes every day". The stay was just great!

"Great" is a gross understatement when describing the breakfast. They were beyond superb!!! The breakfasts are delivered to your table, either inside or on a balcony overlooking the caldera. Juice is provided first up along with a platter of sliced fruit; we had apples, pears, melon, and kiwi fruit over the 3 days. Then, a kind of appetizer is brought out that was hand made in the kitchen when you arrived for breakfast. This was followed by a "main' course dish. At the end, a dessert dish was delivered. All were just extraordinary! Coffee and tea were available as were yogurt and toppings. On the days when the main dish was not an omelet, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, and a simple omelet were provided in a covered heated serving pan as a help your self deal. You could have these in addition to the delicious table served dishes. Breakfast is served daily 0800-1100.

Housing keeping was first rate. They managed to sneak into our room every day when we were at breakfast and replace all the towels, clean up around the room and bath and remake the bed. OBTW, as is common throughout Greece, toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet. A suitable receptacle is provided for the used toilet paper and it is emptied daily.

There were dishes and utensils in the room for those who like to shop at supermarkets and eat on your balcony overlooking the caldera. A really good supermarket is just down the street a bit. There is a hot water kettle in the room along with tea, coffee, sugar, etc. There were also 2 bottles of water in the room refrigerator that were restocked each day.

Overall, this was a great place to stay, the owner, his wife (the cook), and his staff were just wonderful!. There are a "few" steps down the side of the caldera wall to get to the Villa Renos but they were manageable. The staff actually carried our carry-on bags down and back up for us. That was a treat.
