Has anyone ever stayed at the Saint Thomas B&B in Athens? It is located outside the city center. We will be staying at the Art Gallery Hotel for a couple of nights at the beginning of our trip, but after we return from the islands, we thought it might be fun to stay in the suburbs with a different vibe of olive groves and a cozy B&B....
Are you staying there so you can easily get to the airport the next day?
We once stayed for a congress at the Palmyra Hotel in the Athens suburb of Glyfada. I see it is now called the Palmyra Beach Hotel. Have a look ..... it may suit you.
We have stayed at the St. Thomas twice. Once when flying into Athens in late afternoon and flying out to an island early the next morning, and once when arriving from an island late afternoon and flying back to the US the next morning.
We found our rooms to be very clean and comfortable, and our hosts charming and helpful. For a small charge, they transferred us to and from the airport. One evening, we walked to a nearby taverna for dinner. On our next stay, they ordered in souvlaki and salad for us, which we enjoyed by the pool, chatting with other guests about our trips. Bottles of wine and beer are available to purchase.
St. Thomas fit our needs for a one-night stay, and we also appreciated how responsive they were to emails and inquiries.
If you are planning a two night stay after returning from the islands, you would probably want to take the metro into Athens for one of those days.
