We can’t wait to go to Athens for our trip this fall . Were told that the first hotel is the Hera in Athens - does anyone ever get an Acropolis view room? We will arrive a few days early and I as wondering if its possible to upgrade.
It’s a crap shoot. I have arrived early and booked into tour hotel and did get to stay in the same room, though not at a hotel with a view. When you try to book the additional nights you should ask for a view room and mention that you will be with the upcoming RS tour …make sure to provide them with the date the tour begins as well as the extra dates you need. There is no guarantee that you will be assigned view rooms on the tour but with luck and if you are able to secure a view room for the nights before the tour, you may not have to change rooms. Book the extra nights asap, directly with the hotel - the Hera is a popular hotel and Acropolis view rooms go quickly at any hotel in Athens!
The Hera has a rooftop restaurant with an incredible view!
You will pay extra for an Acropolis View at the Hera Hotel. I know we did. The people on tour did not get the view rooms.
But you could book a View room, pre-tour and then ask what it would cost to keep the room instead of moving to the Tour reserved rooms. We've done that on several RS tours.
Hera Hotel has quoted me 30 Euro supplement to remain in the Acropolis view standard room which to me is great. I booked it directly with the hotel. I had considered using Booking.com as I get a genius extra discount but while I waited to book their view rooms are now gone.
Thank you for this idea. I emailed the Hera Hotel last night and have also upgraded my room to the Acropolis View!
I am on a different tour this spring with a different company and had a single person room, so my rate to upgrade is €40 per night, which I also think is very reasonable.
Thank you again for the tip to upgrade, which will also save me from changing rooms when the tour begins.
