Cooking classes or food tours in Athens

Can anyone recommend cooking classes in Athens and or Food Tours.

Also I hear there are safer places to stay in Athens. Where would you recommend?

Assuming you are interested in visiting the many monuments in Athens look for hotels around the Acropolis.
Hotel Herodion is close to the Acropolis Museum and is well recommended on the forum; they have a sister hotel, Philippos close by run by the same family. Both hotels are in quieter residential areas and are perfectly safe. Closer to the Acropolis is the area of Plaka which is full of small hotels and restaurants. It’s the busy tourist area but fun to walk around and explore and I felt safe there at night.

I’d recommend a food tour with Eating Europe or Athens Food Tour — both are great. For safer areas to stay, look at Koukaki, Plaka, or Syntagma.

I’ve taken two food tours with Greekality and found both to be informative, fun and very good value.

I have taken the Eating Europe Greek food tour and it was excellent. Also took a cooking class from Athens Walks. What I loved about the class is we had a local chef, the food was delicious and easy to replicate at home. The added benefit is that we enjoyed the meal we prepared on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Acropolis.
