Athens - Seeking restaurant recommendations

Hi all - My adult niece and I are traveling through Athens for a few days in September. Her birthday is on the Sunday while we are there. I would like to take her to a nice local restaurant with decent views of the Acropolis. Would prefer something not overly touristy, but realize that maybe be difficult. We are staying in the Plaka district so escaping the touristy area would be a welcome relief. :) We are not seafood eaters, so the place must have other options. Thank you for your input. If memory serves me right "dinner" is usually about 9pm ish?

We enjoyed 2Mazi for a little more fancy meal, no view of the Acropolis, but on a side street and nice outside seating, on the edge of the Plaka so easy walking. FYI we were in Athens in April of 2019 and one evening we were wandering around near the Acropolis, found a hotel that had a rooftop bar and restaurant (there was a sign outside) went up, ordered a bottle of wine and some snacks and watched the sunset. Then went to dinner after, maybe just lucked out, I didn't note the name of the hotel. The best meal we had was a tiny little place we wandered into while looking for a barber for my husband over by the Monastiraki. A tour guide recommended a meat restaurant we loved, but it looks to have closed. And of course we were there before Covid, so lots could've changed. Have a great trip!!

Vlassis- , Kolonaki neighborhood, classic, nice setting, hidden away-Meandrou-15,30-21 0725 6335
Kolonaki is near Syntagma Square.
Also in Kolonaki, Loukianou 26, Kolonaki
Kafeneio - Original urban Athenian taverna in Loukianou 26, Tel. 2107237757 , 2107239600 .
A classic, urban, Athenian taverna, very good food. Neighborhood feel.
We ate here, outside and loved it. Neighborhood feel. I think 80% of restaurants in Greece are tavernas. Kolonaki is Athens’ upscale area, up the hill. Real, not many tourists.

ManiMani…loved this place. On southern side of Acropolis in a neighborhood. Not touristy. Nice décor, very good food so we returned a second night. Spelled ManiMani in English but ManhManh in Greek. It is upstairs, second floor of building. www.manimani.com.gr, 10 Falirou Street,5 min from Acropolis .

Another recommendation for Mani Mani. Our favorite Athens neighborhood restaurant. We were in Athens 5 nights and ate there 3 times. Their menu is “modern Greek cuisine.” It is a short walk to the Acropolis. We stayed at nearby Hotel Hera. They have a roof top view of the Acropolis. We stopped by in the evening to enjoy the exquisite view.

Mani Mani. RS used it for the farewell dinner on my tour. I only wish I'd known about it sooner. I spent 4 days in Athens pre-tour. On a return visit to Athens I made sure to have dinner there, it did not disappoint. No views, though. BTW in Greek, in capital letters, it's MANH MANH, but Μάνη Μάνη is the exact equivalent of Mani Mani.

The Acropolis Museum building has a rooftop restaurant (through the bookshop) which is accessible without entering the museum. Great view and reasonable prices, and not nearly as touristy as the restaurants lining the main street opposite the entrance. BTW Mani Mani is a couple blocks downhill from them.

Diane, yes, we made reservations several days ahead for Mani Mani. Like Chani, our RS Tour had our final dinner at Mani Mani. I will add that we enjoyed their house label wine. It was the best wine we had in Greece. Enjoy!

I did make a reservation Mani Mani. I think I had my hotel call for me, probably one day in advance.

There are plenty of rooftop bars and places to eat with view of acropolis. Cielo was good and full of locals. MS rooftop also good, quieter than cielo.
Nice back alley place removed from the tourist lane is Klepsidra Cafe. It,s in the Plaka near the base of the acropolis. They put tables inside and out and up the stairs. Ate lunch there.
