I am travelling to Bavaria, Germany and I had a quick question.
I want to do Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein castle in a day. Considering at Zugspitze I will spend time in the cable car and also some time at the top and I also want to reach in time to Neuschwanstein castle before it shuts down. Do you think its possible to do both in a day? Or is it far fetched ?
The Zugspitze is usually clearest in the morning and often clouds up in the afternoon. Years ago, I arrived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen just before noon, had lunch, then went up on the cable car. By the time I got to the top, it was too cloudy to see anything.
So, you need to plan to go up the Zugspitze as early as possible. Are you spending the night in GaP? That would be helpful to get you up early. If you get up early and don't spend too much time on the mountain, you should have time to get to Hohenschwangau before they stop tours.

I am staying in Munich. And as planned, I will take the earliest train to Zugspitze and do the top in the morning. I plan to finish it by noon and carry on from Zugspitze to Fussen and then from there to the castles. I intend to spend say 2-3 hours on the top.
