Would you change this flight?

My flight to Germany arrives in Frankfurt, but our final destination is Nuremberg. It is Frankfort because, originally, we were going to a few stops on the Rhine before heading to Bavaria. I realized we planned to much and we cut things back to just Bavaria. But I already had the tickets and it was a lot of money to change them, so I just figured we'd take a train to Nuremberg and enjoy the scenery.

I looked again and changing the tickets to arrive in Munich is cheaper than it was before, but still $480 more a ticket (for three tickets) or $1440. I should note that we are flying premium economy for the lounge chair seats (with the hope of getting some sleep on the way there). I could downgrade to regular economy and save $130 a ticket instead of spending $480. But I kind of want the more comfortable and roomier seats for the flight.

How much more trouble is it to fly into Frankfurt vs. Munich for this trip? Either way, we have to take a train to Nuremberg but Munich is much closer. But is it worth $1440 more?

Thanks!

Munich is 105 miles from Nuremberg: Frankfurt is 140 miles away.

I have not done the research, but I suspect the train fare difference will be much less than $480 per person, so see no reason to change the air to arrive at Munich vs, Frankfurt

For $1400 I would enjoy the 2-2 1/2 hour train ride, take a little nap, enjoy the scenery. I wouldn’t change for that kind of savings and hassle of changing a ticket.

Thanks! I just didn't know if it was a major hassle getting from Frankfurt to Nuremberg or not and would be worth it. It looks like the answer is no, it's not worth it. Thanks!

The DB station is connected to the FRA terminal(s), frequent DB ICE trains scheduled, makes it an easy transfer to get to Nuremberg.

Looking at you other posting, I have to ask if you've considered stopping in Wurzburg for a day before going to Nuremberg? That would give you a day in Frankonia's "wine country".

I agree. Stick to your plans. Plus getting to the train station from Frankfurt airport to Nuremberg will be easier from than it would be in Munich. I know for sure you can from the Frankfurt airport to the adjoining train station and get right to Nuremberg. From Munich you most likely would have to get from the airport and then change at the main station in Munich.
