worth going inside Neuschwanstein or save the trouble? (renovation)

We are going to be visiting king's castles in Bavaria in a month. My wife and I have been there a few years back and now we are coming with teenagers.

We are debating whether we should skip going inside Neuschwanstein castle (we are definitely touring other castles) and settle for looking at it from outside (Marienbrucke). There isn't that much inside to begin with and if I understand correctly currently only a couple of rooms are actually available due to renovation. So we suspect we will be disappointed and it will be a waste of time...

On the other hand we are taking kids there and chances are they will not be coming back any time soon or ever, so we have FOMO.

Would be great to hear from people who have been there recently and could say if they were disappointed due to renovation and closures.

Thank you!

I don't think your kids will miss anything worth seeing-unless they're fans of Wagner.

I didn't care for the tour I took there about 20 years ago, and haven't been inside since.

The area and the views from the outside are pretty neat though.

Haven't been lately, but I think worth seeing time allowing. The work is progressing from what I see. Maybe time for a new visit in the coming years? I think I'll go. Please spend time in and around Füssen including Austria. Allgäu is really beautiful. There's stuff in Reutte to do with kids.
