Wittenberg/Lutherstadt Questions - Berlin Welcome Card

Good morning, everyone:

May I ask a few questions about a possible side trip from Berlin to Lutherstadt. It looks like it takes about an hour and a half by BVG train from Berlin to Lutherstadt. Would a Berlin Welcome Card with ABC zones cover that transportation?

Since I burn out and get tired from elaborate day trips and I am trying to avoid an expensive excursion, does it sound doable to make a one day trip there using the BVG. I note the Wittenberg/Lutherstadt website shows you can rent a 7 Euro audio guide/ tour.

Would this 7 Euro audio guide/tourist office be right at the BVG/train station that I arrive at. I am trying to figure out if I arrive in Lutherstadt, whether it will be easy to find the Tourist Office/7 Euro audio guide.

Any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.

Wittenberg is far outside the BVG area. You would have to take either a fast but expensive ICE or a cheaper but much slower regional train. Look up details at www.bahn.com. The tourist info is not at the station but in the historical center (locate the red "i" in the map). To reduce walking time you may want to transfer in Wittenberg to the station "Wittenberg Altstadt".

Picking the right trains, you can travel to and from for 32 EUR with a Regio 120 Ticket.

The name of the place is Wittenberg, "Lutherstadt" is an honorific relating to its connection with Martin Luther.

Personally I think the 1 hour 20 by RE is fine for a day-trip, but if you want to spend extra the ICE is only 40 minutes.
