We will be in Cochem for 4 nights and would love to visit some of the area wineries. When we were there about 7 years ago we visited Weingut Rademacher and will probably stop by there again. We hope to rent some bikes for a day or two, so even places 10-15 miles from Cochem would be doable (or we could take the train). Any suggestions for other wineries to visit?

Enter your dates and you'll find something going on nearby. Bike and train works good as you can buy a VRM mini-group pass for local trains and buses and you can take bikes on the trains. Some buses have bike trailers as well, although you may need a reservation for bike space.
The Weingut Rademacher appears to be one of the larger ones in the valley, many just have 2 guest rooms with a smaller winery in the ground floor, guest rooms and breakfast/living room on the first floor and private family living are on the second floor. We stayed at one in Briedel which is only accessible by bike or bus from Bullay. Town of Zell (home of Zeller Schwartze Katz wine) is just south of Bullay train station by bike.
There really aren't any big wineries here, its mostly mom-and-pop operations. Each village has its own "brand" with the name on a "Hollywood" type sign on the hillside above the town. The vineyards are more or less co-ops with local families having rights to tend and harvest their share.
