Wieskirche recent visit?

Has anybody been there recently?

I visited there several years ago and enjoyed seeing it.

I came across a great youtube showing a Christmas concert there (from German TV channel 1) and I was reminded just over the top rococo it is, and I'd like to see it again.

I'm worried that it will be too busy. They have put in visiting rules to try to deal with the crowds - do they work?

I drove past a couple of years ago and the carpark (and bus park) was so crowded we just kept driving and went to Ettel instead.

The church's website says they get a million visitors a year. That's a lot.

Any hints?

I went through there on the bus ten years ago. I went in, looked around for a few minutes, then left. It's just another over-the-top, gaudy Rococo church, or which there are entirely too many in Bavaria.

I went across the street and had lunch while I waited for the next bus. Lunch was good.

A friend went in the last month. She didn’t mention any concerns

September 2017: stopped on drive from Bavaria up to Frankfurt for flight home next day. Plenty of parking; for a short period we were the only visitors inside the church. This was a weekday; we arrived mid-morning.

These are really reassuring - thanks.

Lee, there are two specific paintings and one sculpture I'd like to see there.
