Which Rhine boat?

Hello Travellers -- We're planning to take a Bingen to St Goar day trip this spring as part of a one-night stay in the Oberwesel area. Really looking forward to it. Which boat would you choose between KD's MS Boppard vs RMS Goethe? Their schedules are both fine. I know Boppard is more sleek & modern while Goethe is a paddle boat, but I don't really care about that. Just wonder about the comfort, view space, any difference in amenities, etc. And if you think a different operator than KD is substantially better, we'd like to know about them. Any opinions? Thanks!

The Goethe has a real restaurant, the other one is offering some snacks.

Month of year?

I found sausages, potatoes and beer to be fine on a KD boat. Not looking for a Michelin meal. What are the "lengths" of the two boats? I might pick the larger, just in the hope of more room, but of course ticket sales count the most! Does RMS offer a modest discount with a same-day train ticket, like KD? Do you know where the respective piers are? Will you have luggage?

My advice is that you’re there for the scenery. Who cares about if a mediocre ship’s commissary is slightly better than another? Pack a lunch and soak in the beauty.

If you’re like me, you’ll be standing on the deck and walking around so pick the one with the most deck space.

Thanks everyone for all this great information! Yes, we're only there for the view, not for a meal etc., but having refreshments handy won't make me mad. Goethe looks to have most deck space and best viewing based on the photos KD posts. Both of these boats are in the KD system, no difference there. We're going to be taking this float on May 24, Bingen to St Goar.

Based on the feedback, it sounds like RMS Goethe is the better choice of these 2 boats.

Thanks again for your input!
