Where to stay in Dusseldorf?

Hello! I will be staying one night in Dusseldorf at the beginning of September, and would like suggestions of where to stay in the city. We will be traveling in/out of Dusseldorf by train. I haven't yet figured out what we want to see or do while there, but I'd like to get a hotel booked soon. Prices seem to vary enormously!

Oh, we are two single ladies in our 30s. We're looking for a safe area, comfortable beds and close proximity to restaurants, shops, etc. I'd say our budget is about $150 USD for the night.

Thanks!

I don't have a specific lodging recommendation, but look for something in the Oberkassel district. It's across the river from the main downtown area, but it's a very walkable community with plenty of what you requested. The downtown core of Düsseldorf isn't bad, but it's not the most visually appealing or charming part of the city.

Hi,

I normally stay in the train station area, ca 2-3 mins after you exit. It's Hotel Bismarck, a 3 star hotel. Prices depend on the month whether the city is holding a trade fair (eine Messe) in that month or not. I've stayed there during the period from late May to July as part of summer traveling, when for a single (EZ) it's quite reasonable.

I stayed a couple of years ago at the Max Hotel Garni close to the station and liked it a lot. There are a few porn shops on the street as you walk from the station, but otherwise the area is fine and the hotel is very friendly and comfortable.
