Where did you get your local SIM in Berlin?

I'm bringing my unlocked iPhone 6 on our upcoming trip, and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations on where to get a local SIM in Berlin. Specifically, I am looking for 1-2GB of data (if data plans include voice/text, great, but not a deal breaker). Last time I was in Europe, I had no trouble buying a local SIM in the UK, but in Germany, every wireless provider I talked to said I'd need to be a German resident and to sign up for a voice/text/data plan that wasn't much cheaper than what Verizon charged for international data.

I am curious whether things have either changed in the last couple of years, or if there are specific places one can buy a local SIM to use data that I overlooked previously. Where did you guys get your SIM cards in Berlin?

I was there in 2012, and didn't need data, so I can't speak to that aspect of it, or to current deals. However, I used a T-Mobile store, and they had no difficulty selling me a prepaid (pay as you go) SIM. All they needed was my passport and my hotel address. They registered the SIM and it only took about 10-15 minutes before it was activated (I just waited in the store).

The store was this one, on the Kurfürstendamm (near Berlin Zoo station). The salesman spoke enough English for the transaction.
