Where around Wiesbaden can i 'experience' an ICE train running in full speed ?

I am just fascinated by the power of ICE trains. They always amaze me when sometimes they pass through a small station, and i know its just like 1/4th of its power. I want to experience this in its full glory, of course from a safe distance. So i am just wondering if anyone can suggest me a place near to Wiesbaden where they would be sprinting in full speed and i can get near to the tracks to feel it.

The ICE only really gets up to speed on the stretch between Frankfurt and Bonn that parallels the A-3. From Wiesbaden Hbf, take the RB to Niedernhausen, which is on standard tracks, and walk to the west under the A-3 and the special high-speed tracks are on the other side, maybe on an elevated portion and walk to where they are at ground level. Download google maps to see a good route. It will be fenced off, so no way you can stand next to the tracks. Probably about a 15 minute walk from Niedernhausen Bahnhof. Might be hitting about 200 mph there.

Hi,

I would suggest expanding your geographic radius if you want a direct ICE connection, point A to point B, to enjoy the ICE going at 187 km per hour or so, such as Frankfurt to Düsseldorf, or Frankfurt to Leipzig, or Frankfurt to Munich. Frankfurt to Hannover...ie, get on the trunk lines.

Riding the ICE between Frankfurt and Bonn, there is really no feeling of how fast you are going, as the acceleration is gradual and the tracks in such good alignment that it is extremely smooth. The only hint is the electronic speed gauge at the ends of the cars which gradually go to 100, then 200, then 300 km/hr and above. Also, look out the window at the BMW's on the Autobahn, they are doing +140 km/hr and you pass them like they are standing still.

I love it when we're on an ICE or TGV train and I see a smile spread across my husband's face as he pulls our his phone and checks one of his apps for velocity. He uses Speedbox most often.
