What Adina Hotel to stay at in Berlin?

So I'm finally going on my much delayed trip to Germany/Austria and wondering which Adina Hotel in Berlin to stay at. Hackescher Market looks closer to the action but many newer reviews talk about the worn tile and furniture. How is the Checkpoint Charlie area? This Adina hotel is newer and looks to have slightly better reviews but seems to be not as central an area.

Thanks!

I stayed at the Meliá Berlin Friedrichstraße & LOVED IT. On the Spree, it is easy walking distance to Museum Island, Hackescher Markt, Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt, Potsdamer Platz, and Dussman das Kulturkaufhaus bookstore (one are the best bookstores in Berlin!)

I spent nine nights at the Adina Hackescher Markt a year ago and nothing seemed worn to me. The room was large, with a mini-refrigerator, dishwasher and, I think, a microwave. For me, the location was ideal, with the S-Bahn a block away, the U-Bahn a couple of blocks the other way, a bakery and grocery around the corner, a lot of restaurants within a couple of blocks, and Museum Island about a 10-minute walk. I thought the hotel breakfast was overpriced, but the bakery was fine and several restaurants also had full breakfasts.

Checkpoint Charlie itself is worth a quick look, and there are some museums nearby focused on the Cold War. I'm sure it would be fine, and the hotel might be better, but I think the Hackescher Markt area is more interesting and convenient.

EDIT: The Melia where Continental stayed sounds very good also. Probably a denser neighborhood but hard to beat the transportation connections.

I stayed at the Hackescher Market location back in 2019 for 10 nights and really liked the location. I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but often used the Bakery on the corner. It was very easy to get around Berlin with multiple transport options very close by and I walked to a lot of places.
Edit I had the one bedroom apartment and it was great to have the washer and dryer in the bathroom

I will third the recommendation for the Adina Hotel Hackescher Markt. I loved that location and would definitely stay there again. I actually passed by the Checkpoint Charlie Adina and would choose the Hackescher Markt hotel over CC. I think it is more convenient and a nicer area. I stayed in a studio so did not have a washer and dryer, but did have kitchen facilities, which were great.

Like Dick, I did not find anything worn out - I thought the hotel was clean, up-to-date and very nice overall.

I have not used this particular brand, but note that proximity to trams is a double-edged sword. We had a prepaid room at a similar international chain (I forget which, but it isn't relevant.) at Hackescher Markt. Our non-air-conditioned rooms faced a curve in the tram tracks, where every tram wheel screamed (a matter of physics, not maintenance) as it went around the corner. It was a hot week, and there was no hope of closing the window. We left the prepaid room and went to a luxury hotel with air conditioning.

My room at the Adina Hackescher Markt faced the interior courtyard, a boring view but quiet. The bigger rooms face the street, but not the one where the trams run. My October visit didn't involve any open windows or air conditioning so I don't know the story about those.

We stayed at this Adina in April, 2022. The location is really ideal. We use only public transport, and it was easy to get there from the train station with our luggage. It was not our favorite Adina of the trip, but was fine.
The negative: Odd layout. The small bathroom ( tub/ shower) was at one end of the room, and the bedroom was at the other. The small living room was in between. The kitchenette was rudimentary compared to other Adinas, but functional.
The washer/ dryer was in the bathroom behind the door, which made for a lot going on in a very tiny space.
The positive: It was inexpensive, even with breakfast included. We thought breakfast was fine. They were still dealing with Covid stuff, but you could order anything you wanted cooked to order. We had a terrace with sliding doors that allowed in fresh air. They had both a washer and a dryer ( albeit a condensation type which takes longer).

For us, this location was preferred over a busier area. After a day out and about it was nice to have a grocery store, drug store, and several restaurants in the same block. It is a quiet neighborhood.

Thanks all. I booked the hotel. As for tram noise, I live near railroad tracks and have pretty much gotten used to them. I'm a city girl and traffic noise is normal. I stayed a few days at a B&B in the country and couldn't sleep because it was way too quiet.

I'll report back after the trip about my thoughts. Since I have a kitchenette, I didn't get the breakfast as I usually have a continental breakfast.

Heather, like Dick, I didn't notice any tram noise when I was there. My room was very quiet.

We are spending a week there and like to cook in some when traveling as well as do breakfast in the apartment. How equipped are the kitchens for some light cooking? Is there good take out and bakery stuff available in the area? We are at the Hackescher market Adina with a one bedroom apartment.

I was only in a studio apt since I travel solo so I can't speak for the one bedroom units, but I believe they have fully equipped kitchens, along with a washer and dryer,

In terms of the neighborhood there are several very nice grocery stores nearby; both large and small, multiple cafes and bakeries and wine shops. Believe me, you will not find it hard to gather groceries or take out in that area.

Janet, the hotel website says "fully equipped kitchen" and there's a floorplan that seems to show a cooking surface as well as a microwave. I was in a smaller room and I don't recall whether it had a cooking surface (all I cared about was the refrigerator). It did have a small dishwasher. I'm pretty sure you can do some cooking in the one-bedrooms, but you should check with the hotel to make sure. Hopefully you won't be planning to bake!

There's a well-stocked small grocery around the block from the hotel entrance. I used it for juice, yogurt and such, and got baked goods from the little bakery on the corner. I expect this hotel will work for you.

I always wonder if fully equipped also means adequate pots and pans and dishware. I guess we will find out. WE want to be able to make coffee and have breakfast in every day and to have snacks and probably do some easy dinners -- quick omelette or chop. Good to know there is a grocery nearby -- so we can stock up on butter, yogurt etc. And we will look for take out.

Janet,
We stayed at Adina 9 nights in a one bedroom. The kitchen included an electric 2 burner cooktop, microwave, sufficient pots and pans for light cooking and a coffee pot. The refrigerate is more than large enough to hold restaurant leftovers as well as grocery purchases. There is a dining table and three chairs. It is plenty large enough for two peoples daily back pack download and arranging. We plan to stay there again when in Berlin.
