I am thinking this might be a nice day trip from Munich, but without a car, is it feasible with train and/or bus? Thanks! K

As you might already know, the way to get to Weltenburg is by boat from Kelheim. I don't have the schedule for the boat right now, but there are hourly (approx) connections to Kelheim from Munich using trains to Saal and a bus to Kelheim.
Update: Here is the schedule page (in German) for the boat to Weltenburg. Looks like in the summer it leaves every half hour.
