Weekend tip: 25th Anniversary Celebration at the DB Museum in Koblenz

On the weekend of May 30 and 31, 2026, the DB Museum in Koblenz invites everybody to a grand anniversary celebration. To mark the 25th anniversary of the museum’s location, a manifold program is on offer for railway enthusiasts, children, and families: featuring a grand anniversary locomotive parade on Saturday, rides on the legendary Adler train, an exhibition with around 100 vehicles - including many guest vehicles - as well as special trips on an anniversary train from Cologne and Heidelberg to the museum.

Beat me to it KGC. I was going to post that I heard the museum was going to open 12 minutes late.

BTW, as travelers we make fun of DB and is it far, far better than what we have here in the US and the D-Ticket is an amazing value. I was just looking at a trip to a conference via Amtrack. I'm 3 hours from the nearest station and the conference city was an hour away from the closest stop. Versus airfare, one-way cost was over $100 more for train and about $1,400 more with a roomette for the two-day journey.

The D-ticket at 63 Euros is a bargain for travelers from abroad, almost a freebie. But billions of tax dollars are removed annually from the incomes of local citizens to cover that 60 to 65% of the operational costs which the 63 Euros do not cover. We D Ticket holders from abroad owe German taxpayers a heartfelt danke schön for the ride.
