Wannsee : Eighty years later

For those who may be unaware of The Wannsee Conference in January , 1942 ,this article in The NY Times will be of interest . . I visited this site ( now a memorial museum ) a few years ago on one of my visits to Berlin , and found it very engaging . It was there , eighty years ago that a handful of Nazi leaders contrived " The Final Solution " to eliminate 11,000,000 Jews . Led by Reinhard Heydrich , one of Hitler's iciest and most vicious adjutants , the conference lasted a mere ninety mintues . Heydrich met his end six months later when he was assassinated in Prague , the target of Operation Anthropoid . https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/20/world/europe/lake-wannsee-conference-final-solution-holocaust.html

Thank you for sharing this. I have yet to visit the site in Berlin. That said, when visiting Prague in 2019 we heard about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and operation Anthropoid. We were on our way to Terezin with the wonderful historian Pavel Batel. We stopped along the Highway and Pavel pointed out the area where this occurred. It was a solemn day. I agree, “one of Hitler’s iciest’s and most vicious adjudants.” Additional info.:

Have been there twice. It needs several hours to read all of the text, which becomes more and more horrendous. I wish more people would go there but it doesn't seem to be on the main tourist sights?

I just visited Wansee in December, as Ms. Jo says above, it takes several hours to read all of the text. The visit is more rewarding if you watch the movie Conspiracy in advance, it is available on HBO-Max.
I also visited Platform 17 on the same day, it is on the same S7 S-Bahn/train line, that you take to Wansee. Platform 17 Is a memorial dedicated to those deported from Berlin during the Holocaust.
The S7 is the S-Bahn line from Berlin to Potsdam.

I went to the Wannsee Conference Center in 2016. I agree. It has a very informative exhibit that takes a while to work your way through. I've also talked to a couple of Berliners who grew up on the East German side of the Wall who participated in Young Pioneer activities there as kids.
