Walking paths between towns along Rhine??

I saw somewhere that all the towns along the Rhine are connected by walking/hiking/biking trails. Is that so? Is there a place where I can get an idea as to the length of these trails (maps even) between towns? Are the trails well marked? Is this true on both sides of the Rhine?
