I went online to get tickets for a mid-June-early July visit to the Reichstag over the weekend and was shocked to find no openings at all for a guided tour. The only availability is for Tuesday lectures in the Visitors' Chambers. Even though this isn't my initial choice, I signed us up for one anyway. However, the office has only emailed with a confirmation about the details I sent and did not even say when we can get our tickets. For those who've gone through this, do I just need to wait for a few days? Are they running some kind of background check (gave our names and DOBs)?
I see that is closed for an event July 7 to 11. You can register for any openings.
Information for visitors who have not booked in advance
If you would like to visit the dome but have not booked in advance, you can register to do so at the service centre run by the Visitors’ Service near the Reichstag Building, next to the Berlin Pavilion on the south side of Scheidemannstraße. If any free places are still available, you will be issued a booking confirmation entitling you to visit the dome; please note that this must be issued a minimum of two hours before the time of your visit. You can also register to visit the dome in the following two days. The service centre does not accept bookings for visits more than two days in advance.
They are not running a background check. I got my confirmation immediately upon registering. If it is a weekend, they might just be booked up.
Good news! I just signed up for a guided tour at the Reichstag after deciding to check openings to try my luck. Does anyone know how to cancel a book with the Bundestag office? I already have a confirmation for the 45-minute lecture option.
