Leading up to a federal election in the fall, would Berlin be in a summer slump in July and politicians gone home? Or would there be election rallies, speeches and election events in high gear? I'd like to experience Germany during election fever. Thanks.
Berlin is never, ever in a slump and the elections will have absolutely no influence on the city. You probably won't even know they are happening. It is nothing like the US. There will be no election fever.
My memory on this may not be correct, but from when I lived in Germany, the period of active campaigning before elections is actually rather short, no more than a few weeks.
Thank you for your replies. I was thinking in terms of the American election campaign. German style probably more serious with debate style in public forums.
