Visit Germany in March

We are planning a visit to Germany in March for a relative celebration. We know this is not typically tourist season. Will we find this to be a bad time to go?

Germany is a large country with several different climates.

Welcome aboard for your first - we hope of many - question.

Where do you need to be? Where would you like to visit?

I used to go to Germany every year in late March- early April for work. I always took a couple weeks off on my own to travel then. It's a great time to be a tourist, as you can have whole floors of the museums to yourself. Weather can range from (and usually does) snow to mild; plan on it being cool at least. It will rain and/or snow, but who cares?

Bravo ! Good choice starting with Schleswig-Holstein.

Unimportant that you won't be in Schleswig-Holstein during the typical tourist time. I would start in May (weather-wise) but be prepared for it to be still cold in March.

Numerous lovely towns in that area, Eutin, Plön, Husum, Heide, Flensburg, Schleswig. Kiel is interesting too, especially cruising through the Kiel Canal.

Which other places do you have in mind in North Germany or even eastern Germany if that's part of the itinerary too?

I used Bremen as a base for a short trip last March. There was a little rain, but I found it to be a perfectly fine time to go (though I'm a pretty content person who is happy with all things travel). Your experience may vary based on your flexibility and what you are hoping to do.
