Vignette for Rossfeld Panoramic Strasse?

Hi All,

Do I need Vignette for driving in Rossfeld Panoramic Strasse? There are parts of the crest road that is on Austria territory. It is also mentioned on the website but I'm not really clear which part of the road. Based on gmap the part of the road which is continuation from Purtschellerstrasse to Rossfeld st. just after Ahornkaser , the highest tavern in Germany.

Also I'd think to have dinner in Ahornkaser but I read reviews that visitors coming at 16pm already refused for hot food. They were just served coffee instead. Is this info correct? I might reach Ahorn around 18pm on Monday, 21st July.

Cheers

Hi Chris F
Yes i'm aware of that but there are parts of the rossfeld panorama strasse that crosses to Austrian border (parts are along the border). This is also mentioned on its website.

Or is it because the Rossfeld is German's owned Autobahn, thus, we do not need the vignette? The website does not mention anything else aside from the toll charges.

jen, for the Rossfeld rd, there is a toll, but its just a guy sitting in a small building/booth. you just pay him for the use of the road.
If you think that you need a 'highway' vignette, then they are easy to buy at the service stations inside the Austrian border. we bought one, as we were driving around Salzburg and did not want to worry about the roads and possible costs.

Jen, you do not need an Autobahn Vignette because the road is not an Autobahn.
Click here for a map of the area. The Autobahns are the blue roads with numbers beginning with an 'A'. Any map will clearly show the Autobahns as distinct from other roads. So long as you keep off the Autobahns, you do not need a vignette in Austria.
