We are taking Rick's 14 day Ger/Aus/ Swiss tour in Sept. We want to take the train for Vienna to the Hummel Factory in Coberg.
How is the best way to make that trip?

Hi,
To go from Vienna to Coburg is easy, takes only one transfer. Take the early ICE from Wien Westbahnhof to Nürnberg. Change to the regional train for Coburg.

Just to note that the journey time is 6.5 hours each way.

Hi,
I assume you intend to stay the night in Coburg after seeing the Hummel Factory, or even in Nürnberg, as this ride cannot be done as a day trip from Vienna like Vienna to Salzburg, which I would. But, in your case, I would stay in Coburg since that town is completely new to me.

We always recommend using the German rail website for looking up train schedules all over Europe, www.bahn.com. It does look, as other posters said, that it's about 6.5 hours with one change in Nurnberg.
