In Vienna, servers expect a tip. Found out the hard way. Start your Vienna itinerary by looking at this. http://www.bigboytravel.com/europe/austria/vienna/top-ten-tips/. Where are you staying? How much is parking and/is it available? Parking downtown is almost impossible. We walked everywhere we went. I was driving, and left the car at the abode. We got a map and went from there. With a 3 year old, you might want to look into public transport. https://www.wien.gv.at/english/transportation-urbanplanning/public-transport/ and this might help: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g190454-s303/Vienna:Austria:Public.Transportation.html

For Salzburg: http://www.austria.info/us/where-to-go/cities/salzburg

and this might help:http://www.planetware.com/tourist-attractions-/salzburg-a-s-salz.htm

Again, we parked our car at our abode and walked. Salzburg is very walkable. On the weekend, they had a flea market on the river, which was interesting, if not expensive.

It was hot during the day, but really cooled off in the evening. Might want a jacket. We also drove to a Glacier park. Going up the winding road was interesting as was the decent. We enjoyed the views but not sure about kids. http://www.visit-salzburg.net/surroundings/grossglockner.htm

Vienna and Salzburg are in Austria, not Germany. I suggest buying some guidebooks and doing some research yourself. Come up with a plan yourself and post it here for some feedback. Otherwise, hire a travel agent. Use google maps for estimating driving times.

You should post this in Austria. Look at viamichelin.com for driving distances and route suggestions. You should also get a guidebook so you can decide what you are most interested in seeing.

Driving time from Salzburg to Vienna, it the train is any indication, calculate 3 hours, most likely less.

Train is faster for driving; I never managed to drive Vienna to Salzburg or vv. in less than 4 hours - and remember that speed limits are severely enforced. It is one of those itineraries that look deceivingly short.
