We (dh + another couple) will be in the Fussen area, with a car, during the Viehscheid celebrations in both of these towns (one Friday, one Saturday). Anyone have experience attending either one? I see there is also a "sheep festival" in Mittenwald the same weekend. We are planning to visit Mittenwald, but not necessarily on the festival day...or should we consider changing our plans?

Attended neither, but have stopped off at Oberstaufen previously, which I imagine would be a larger festival. I attended the one in Mittenwald once, a couple in Austria, and the festival in Munster (Alsace), in which I walked down into town with the cow herders. Depending on the crowd and weather, it can be a lively and entertaining occasion.
