I’m super confused, on some sites it says if you are fully vaccinated no covid test required for US travelers but other say you need both. Does anyone know the rule?
The only site you want to trust is the official German Gov site found here:
https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/coronavirus/2317268
If you have proof of vaccine, you do not need a test.
We are flying out tomorrow. Delta Airlines and links say we only need proof of vaccines. We need a covid test to return to the USA. It does seem to be a moving target.
I've been in Germany and Austria for a few days. No one cares about seeing our cdc cards. NO one is masking but us, except on public transportation. KN-95's required on buses and trains.
For British Airways , we entered our cdc info- no testing required coming into the Uk, Germany, and Austria .
We are carrying the Abbott e-med test for the way home. So hope the US would drop the testing requirement !
Safe travels!
Thanks! I appreciate the response.
I am sitting here at the airport on my way to Berlin, and all I had to show at check-in was my vaccination card and passport. That took all of 30 seconds. So I have three hours to kill.
As of now, you do have to have an antigen test one day before you leave Germany, but I am really really hoping they do away with that before May 25.
And for what it’s worth, absolutely no one here at the airport is masked.
@Mardee thx. And i will be in Berlin in a couple of days as well!
As mentioned above, United/Lufthansa is asking for a vaccine certificate OR a test.
The Sherpa site was recommended on Monday night travel for the most updated travel requirements . It also says the same https://apply.joinsherpa.com/travel-restrictions
We flew Delta from Salt Lake City to Paris and then Munich yesterday. Only Delta asked to see our CDC vaccine cards. I understood they shared the data with our destination countries. No one in Europe has asked for any further proof. Planes and trains in France and Germany required masks.
Update: talked to Lufthansa agent. Hopefully this is correct info he gave me (as of today)
3 doses required for definition of complete vaccination (includes one booster)
no time period restrictions on when last dose given
under six exempt.
We are flying into Munich end of June. This thread is clearing up a few things - sounds like 3 doses (not two ) is considered fully vaccinated for ages 12 and up.. for entry into Germany.
But I also read on an official travel German site (can’t remember which one) that you need your last dose within 270 days. It sounds like - from this forum - this is not correct?
By end of June many people who got early boosters will be beyond that time limit. . And under 50 cannot get a fourth dose currently. I’m wondering if they will they require dose 4 for those over 50 who are past 270 days. And what happens for under 50s? Perhaps rules will change after June 1? Thank you for any insight.
Confusion continues to dominate. The official German site stated two shots are acceptable until October 1; then three shots (booster) is required. I didn’t see a 270 day limit between doses.
The 270 days after booster WAS the policy in Austria- not sure that is current, they may have extended that. Check the Austrian govt website.
Safe travels!
