I am traveling from Chicago to Venice on May 5th of 2027 with a 70-minuet layover in Munich landing in terminal 1 having to catch a connecting flight in terminal 2, I am concerned about if I have enough time to catch my connecting flight to Venice having to go through using the EES, as I am not in the system, any suggestions
Is this on a single ticket? Is the flight from Chicago on a Star Alliance airline?
You should recheck your booking; it's highly unlikely you have a flight out of Chicago
nonstop to Munich landing in Terminal 1. All UA and LH flights arrive at Terminal 2.
If your flight is on AA or BA, then you have a connection in London first most likely,
and why you would choose that routing is beyond me.
Moreover, for a flight in May 2027:
1) There's a nontrivial chance the flight schedule will change
2) The state of EES is hard for anyone to predict at this point
Assuming, as markcw asks, your flights are on a single ticket, then UA/LH will get
you to Venice with no additional costs even if you miss the connection.
I am flying with Lufthansa, and it is a single ticket
If you can change your flights, I’d do it. We had 80 minutes between flights in Munich in September and barely made it — our connecting flight was boarding when we arrived at the gate.
Yes Lufthansa is required to get you to Venice if you miss the flight, but who knows how long that will take. Unless you’re the adventurous type who can enjoy this gamble, try to make a change now.
