Used nickname instead of legal name on deutschebahn Bayern ticket

I purchased the 4 person Bayern ticket. When entering the names, I stupidly used my brother in laws nickname “Rick” instead of Richard which is on his passport. There is only one barcode for all 4 of us. Do I need to buy a new ticket?

I wouldn’t worry about it. If the conductor even looks at the ticket, I doubt that he will do more than note the number of passengers.

I vote also for OK. Rick and Richard are close enough - Joseph and Sepp (a Bavarian first / nickname combi) is less easy to guess.

If you feel really unsafe about that just contact DB directly and ask.

Funny side story: CEO of DB is always called "Bahnchef". In German press this is more handled like a first name with changing last names than a position description.

no you will have no problem. As long as you have ID for the ticket that is all that really matters

No problem. The name is only on the ticket to stop it being used twice. They usually don't check ID, and if they do, the family name is (presumably) correct.
You can buy a Bayern ticket at the station on the day, there is no financial advantage to buying in advance,

Have used regional Länder tickets at least 100 times or more. Not once has the ticket checker asked for ID. Don't worry about the nicknames.

Yeah, bought a Bayern Ticket and the only thing the inspector did was turn the ticket over and hand me a pen (write the names in please).
