Will our US CDC card work in Germany for proof of vaccination?
Yes, it will.
Thank You
Would you happen to know if we will need to go to a pharmacy to show our card and have them issue on with a QR code?
I don't have first-hand experience with getting a QR code in Germany, but this was the first result of a simple google search: https://www.stuttgartcitizen.com/news/local-pharmacies-offer-transcription-of-cdc-vaccine-cards-into-eu-digital-standard/
Very helpful
Thanks!
There was a recent post from someone who tried to tried to use it at the Reichstag, and it was not accepted. Just something to keep in mind. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/germany/us-vaccine-cards-not-accepted-at-the-reichstag
Got an email from the German ministry that they will transfer from the CDC card to theirs if you have a permanent German address.,A pharmacy might do this for a traveler but they are not obligated to.
Perhaps you can ask the owners of the place where you are staying in Germany about a local pharmacy that can provide the EU immunization certificates. My B&B owner in Berlin was very helpful with this in the fall, immediately identifying a pharmacy a couple of blocks away that was able to do this when I asked about it. I bought some allergy medication as part of the transaction to make it a little more worthwhile for the pharmacy.
Traveling in Germany now, CDC card + passport has been accepted at all historic sites/museums, bars and restaurants so far (cologne, Wurzburg, Nuremberg, Frankfurt)
