Unification Day in Berlin

Hello all,
We are spending a week in Berlin including October 3 which is Unification Day and I have several questions.
1. Apart from checking the websites of every museum, is there a way to know which will be open that day and/or have reduced hours? Will tourist sites be extra busy?
2. It looks like most of the celebrations will be at the Brandenburg Gate area. Our rented apartment is half a block away. Will it be noisy? rowdy? safe? (We aren't opposed to a fun party, just a little concerned about the atmosphere and safety.)
3. Anything else we should consider about that day? Should we join in, or plan a day trip out?
Thanks!

Last year we spent 4-5 days in Berlin, flying out the evening of 10/2 which was a Sunday. For the time we were there, Junisiebsehn Strasse was closed as they prepared for the Reunification Day celebration, which was on 10/2 from what we saw; perhaps there was more on 10/3 but we had left town. On that Sunday, we visited the German History Museum (and I believe all the museums on Museum Island were open), walked down Unter der Linden Strasse to the Brandenburg Gate and then on to the celebration. It was not noisy or rowdy when we were there in the afternoon; don't know what it was like in the evening. In fact, we found it less crowded that local markets in Provence or street festivals in Sacramento. We enjoyed walking around, listening to bands, and having one last pretzel before leaving Germany. I say join in!
