In May we will be flying into Paris and picking up our lease car for a 10 -week trip. After a few nights in the Epernay area, we will head east to Germany where we will spend the rest of our time before returning to CDG to fly out. Since we will be visiting many places that have environmental zones, we apparently need to buy a German Umveltplakette sticker that our French lease car will not have. What’s the simplest way to get one?

Why not lease a car in Germany? Just take the train to whatever the first stop in your plans after Paris.
Experience has shown us that we prefer driving in order to have greater schedule control and flexibility. If we could travel with little luggage, we would use trains more but that is one skill we have not mastered. Besides, it gives us an excuse to go back to the Champagne region for a visit and take the bubbly cure for jet lag. We originally wanted to fly into a German city, but at the time of our booking, all the good flights were full and the remaining ones too long and expensive, or lease cars were not available there.
So, Paris was a compromise.
