We are traveling to Munich in August with 8 and 7 year old girls for two weeks. We plan on using the rail/bus system the first week and tackle Munich and sights within an hour the first week. The second week we are renting a car and hitting some of the farther excursions. The question is can we bring our current booster seats without any issue? I don't mind taking an extra bag on the plane if it saves us $120 Euro. My wife seems to think the seats need to be EU rated. Thanks for any help.
Paul you might check with your car rental to see or this sight here http://www.howtogermany.com/faq/faq-car-seats.php
We use our US car seats. I can't imagine why that would be a problem. Perhaps the best way is to buy a seat like this from a larger store in Munich. As you can see, they are cheap. Just leave it in Germany.
Yes you can use your US booster seat in Germany. No one is going to check and honestly the standards are more strict for in the US than Germany for boosters anyway (at least they were when I researched it in 2009). I also own a German booster I bought from Lidl and there is no "rating" marking or TÜV certification or anything similar on the booster seat or the booklet that came with it (I literally just checked it in the garage just now).

Thank you all for the great responses. Wifey was just worried that we would get in trouble using US made seats. She has mentioned it three times, so I needed to put this one to rest. We have extra luggage so may as well take our own I say. Danke
