Two days with teens near Duesseldorf/Cologne

Hi-

I am spending two days in late June near Duesseldorf because we are going to soccer matches for Euro 2024 nearby.

So -- my question is...what do we do for two days near Duesseldorf? We have the mornings until about 3pm, when we have to leave for the nearby soccer matches.

We will probably go to Cologne for 1 day and see the Cathedral, but I suspect that it will not be terribly interesting for my teenagers.

Any ideas? Are there castle on the Rhine to tour (Rick likes the Rhine too far south to make the soccer matches)? Is there a nearby amusement park?

Help!

Thank you.

Would they like a big waterpark...Aqualand? If they are old enough be on their own inside the park, you could get some time inside the spa.

They will also find the Roman History museum in Cologne interesting if they are at all into that.

I think they would like that. I also was looking at another amusement park: Phantasialand -- anyone been there?

My 2 teenagers (19 & 16) were there recently and they loved it. They were particularly interested in the thrill rides, some of which had longer queue times (up to 45 minutes).
However, they have not been to many theme parks yet, so there is no comparison.

If you want to go, it should definitely be a full day. There is a shuttle bus from Brühl train station.
