12 oct amsterdam to bad bentheim first class for 2 people is 59 euro

Seat 61 is awesome to use for train travel. He gives the station layout, lounges and a bunch of other stuff. I just saw that he has your travel hack listed. Also he has one for Czech railway

bring your own food, beer & wine aboard for more savings. Doesn't sound as if 1st class brings much benefit if that matters to you
First: check at bahn.de or ns.nl the route your train will take. According to the train planner the normal direct train via Bad Bentheim doesn't run as a result of track works. You have to pick up your Intercity to Berlin in Amersfoort, which means getting a train to Utrecht and there change for the train to Amersfoort.
I think the most practical and safest way is:
1. Buy train tickets Amsterdam to Bad Bentheim. I am pretty sure a normal Dutch domestic ticket is valid.
2. Get a seat reservation for the whole journey Amersfoort to Berlin. Use the option »Seat only« under »Change other data« on the bahn.de website. (The Dutch domestic trains for Amsterdam to Amersfoort can't be reserved.)
