Trip to munich

We are doing a Viking cruise in April 2024, from Venice to Athens
We are extending our trip, and would like to fly to Munich for a few days
Any recommendations on airline, where to stay in Munich, ? Highlights to see?
Thank you

Perhaps if you shared your budget, travel style, interests, pace, and age we could be more help! How did you decide on Munich? I ask because that wouldn't be my first choice, so something must have piqued your interest. Safe travels.

Use Google Flights to see what flights are available for the day and time you want to fly. There should be multiple nonstop flights, mostly on Lufthansa and Aegean. Rick has a Germany guidebook with sections on Munich and nearby areas. You can also check the Germany part of the Explore Europe section of this website. I usually look at booking.com for accommodations possibilities, and then book directly with the hotel.

If you are set on Munich, and it is a nice destination, I think Pat makes good points about getting to know more about you and your travel party. What makes sense for one traveler, may not for another. Also how many days is a few?

Did you choose Munich because it’s a sort of close, geographically, Germany option to Italy and Greece? Since Germany is a big country with a whole lot of people, there are a lot of different choices for Germany. Lots of choices and can’t really go wrong, as long as you choose one that suits you. We can help if we know more about you.

Munich is a great place to visit with very convenient public transport. I spent 3 days there in September and could have stayed longer.

We were there during Oktoberfest so we stayed along the S1 line about 10 minutes from
The airport and 25-30 minutes from the Marianplatz to save money. It turned out we enjoyed the location and the hotel, but you may want to stay closer to Central Munich.

If you're in Munich I'd recommend going on to Salzburg, and very magical city. Safe Travels!
