Trip to Germany

Hi
I'm thinking of doing a 1 week Germany trip this month, I'm thinking of spending 3/4 nights in Berlin and remaining left nights in Munich.
I will be travelling from London and I love history, architecture, nature, good food and just generally exploring.

I think I definitely want to do Berlin but wasn't sure about adding Munich to the trip. If anyone has any other suggestions I would be open too! Thanks so much!

We were in Berlin the end of October. It is an important city historically, however we didn't find it as enjoyable as some other large European cities. Even the museums were not as enjoyable as those in other big cities.

We did run down to Dresden for a couple of days, and we enjoyed that city immensely. Sorry we didn't have more time there.

I have visited Munich quite a few times, and found it to be a great city. We love to rent a car and take a driving loop down into the Austrian Alps 2 hours south. Or, run over to the always popular town, Salzburg. We also always enjoy visiting Vienna.

Will you fly back to London after your 1 week in Germany? It sounds like you haven’t been to either city before and if that’s the case, and with your interests it sounds about right to fly to Berlin and stay for about 4 days, then take the train to Munich for your remaining 3 days before you fly back to London(?). We’ve immensely enjoyed the historical aspects of Berlin, the art museums, the Tiergarten and Zoo and the culture. In Munich we love several art museums, the Residences, the Englishergarten with Biergartens, the Deutches Museum (science) and the large outdoor market, the Viktualienmarkt .

Given its proximity to Berlin, Potsdam would be a natural choice for that particular list of interests.

Grünewald Forest is right in between Potsdam and Berlin.

I would suggest 5 nights in Berlin, the rest of the time in Munich or stay in North Germany, as suggested, including the eastern part,

choosing between Leipzig, Hamburg, or if you prefer smaller places , eg, Naumburg an der Saale, Weimar, Halle, or Lüneburg. Absolutely do the day trip to Potsdam and see Sanssouci and Neues Palais., cultural and historical sites.

Keep in mind basically historical Berlin is eastern Berlin, ie east of the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz.

"...definitely want to do Berlin...." My favourite city in Germany, visited it on my first trip to Germany too, unthinkable without seeing Berlin on the first trip.

From Milan, do Munich - Prague, Czech rep-Krakow, Poland - Berlin. That's a very common route and for good reason, it rocks.
Doing Prague and Krakow will be better than hitting two additional cities in Germany (also much cheaper).Visitors to Worms more often head to the Jewish cemetery in Worms, one of the SHUM cities in Germany with UNESCO World Heritage status, in addition to Worms' other sights.

The largest historical Jewish Cemetery in Germany is in Berlin-Pankow, the Weißensee Cemetery. It's huge, I had a glimpse of it as a passenger in a vehicle passing by.

I did see the one located on Heeresstraße in Berlin-Grunewald ca, 2 mins down from the British RAF military cemetery, where British air crews shot down over Berlin are buried. In 2016 I went out to this site and discovered the Jewish cemetery close by.
