While ago we were trying to figure out a route on rail from Goerlitz, Gy. Leaving at 5:46 from Goerlitz to go to Frankfurt and on to Marseille all in one day. They said at that time they would be fixing tracks between Dresden and Leipzig. He was going to have to go to Cottbus to Berlin to Frankfurt to Marseille. Now at the Dresden station they say no. Still has to catch 5:46 train in Goerlitz on June 23 anyway. Anyone see any evidence that they will be working on tracks? Otherwise he will go to Dresden/Neustadt, then to Leipzig to Frankfort to get into Frankfurt at 12:36. Then taking 13:58 train to Marseille. He has bought the TGV ticket to France. Thank you. Just checking because we don’t now after one really bad day on German trains trust what they say.
Hi,
I just checked the DB (Deutsche Bahn, Germán Railways) app and the train leaves Goerlitz at 5.39 AM, not 5.46, on 23 June. That's your track work impact I guess.
The buffer in Frankfurt looks good enough... Not much of a choice anyway. By the way, I appreciate the commitment not to fly on such a journey.
Also, the trains will be very busy because Thursday was a public holiday, so many peoole are off.
bahn.com (and, correspondingly, the DB Navigator app) is almost never wrong concerning planned track works (which is usually entered into the system a couple of weeks before the respective date). Of course, something may have changed since you last checked on bahn.com . I hope that is where you checked?
At the moment, I do not see a 5:46 departure. The best option that I see is a 5:39 departure with 3 1/2 transfers (Dresden-Neustadt, Frankfurt, and Paris (with a transfer between Gare de l'Est and Gare de Lyon). But I guess you have a ticket for another option?

Just out of curiosity, what happened?
The 5:39 goes through Dresden/ Neustadt and arrives in Frankfurt around 12:30. He has a TGV ticket for Frankfurt to Marseille. We asked in Dresden at the ticket window and they didn’t show any track work. Goerlitz to Cottbus to Berlin leaves at 5:43, but there is only a 10 minute window to make a connection.
Doing this route I would take the trains too...no flying option for me. You can tailor your train routes here.
No longer any notes on the line from Goerlitz to Frankfurt a.M. So just stick with the schedule shown departing 5:39 to Dresden Neustadt and change there to Frankfurt a.M.
Thanks. That’s what the plan was now, to go through Neustadt. He is long gone now so I hope it all works out. Thanks for the help.
