Travelling by Train from Berlin to Munich and back

Hi Folks,

My two friends and I are planning a trip to Germany in late November this year (my first time). Our focus is spending time in Berlin, heading down to Munich and then stopping a couple places on our way back up to Berlin.

I am trying to make sense of the best/find the most economic way to get around by train.

Question:
Specifically, I am trying to determine if getting a Eurail German Rail Pass for 4-5 days will work out better than doing point to point tickets and maybe getting the DB ticket.

Here is our current itinerary (travel days are bolded):

  • 11/24 > Land in Berlin
  • 11/25 - 11/27 > Stay in Berlin
  • 11/28 > Travel to Munich
  • 11/29 > 11/30 - Stay in Munich
  • 12/1 > Travel to Rothenberg
  • 12/2 > Stay in Rothenberg (or maybe travel towards Dresden)
  • 12/3 > Travel to Dresden/Saxon Switzerland Park
  • 12/4 > Travel to Berlin
  • 12/5 - 12/6 > Stay in Berlin
  • 12/7 > Fly out

Also, if you have any tips or things to check out along our route or for traveling in Germany in November/December, please let me know.

Thank you for any insights you might have!

The only way to see if the pass is worth it is to go to the Deutsche Bahn website and look at what each separate journey would cost.

Bamberg is a station on the way between Berlin and Munich. Maybe this World Heritage old town can replace Rothenburg which is not close to your other parts.
