Traveling to Munich Tonight for child's medical emergency- question about airport

My teen has been on a trip to Germany with his class. He has experienced a medical emergency and I am flying out tonight to get there tomorrow. When I look at the airport's website they say that extensive work is being done on the S1 and S8 lines resulting in delays and complications getting into the city center. However, the explanations are in German so I am unsure if it would affect me. I am trying to get to the S-Bahn: stop "Giesing". Can anyone tell me if the S Bahn train I need to take is affected or if I should just take a cab? Also how complicated is it getting in and out of Munich airport? I've been through CDC before so I think I can handle most, but I speak some French and know no German.

A child with a medical emergency is stressful enough. Worry about the S bahn later. Write out the address of where you are headed and simply hand it to the taxi driver on arrival. This trip needs to be as quick and easy as possible. Hoping for a quick recovery for your child.

Carol- I had just gotten to that realization myself. I'm sitting here stir crazy and started to make this more complicated than it needed to be. I'm just so used to using public transport when traveling that taxis didn't initially cross my mind as an option. Thanks for the vote to "keep it simple" that I should really be following.

For tomorrow morning, MVV is showing both S-1 and S-8 operating. At Munich Ostbahnhof, you can get the S-3 or S-7 two stops to Giesing.

Where are you getting this info? The S- bahn is currently showing no disruptions. Take the S-1 or S-8 into munich and transfer.. its easy to board it at Munich airport.

I had to fly cross country on short notice a few years ago for a college-age son's medical emergency. I know when I landed, I just wanted to get to him as quickly as possible, so I'd suggest taking the fastest and simplest option. For that trip, it was a taxi even though there were trains.

Best wishes to you and your son - safe travels and a quick recovery.

The site linked by you says

"Due to construction work on the main line, there will be schedule changes on the S 8 for two trains on Thursday, June 2, Tuesday, June 14, Tuesday, June 21, Thursday, June 23, Tuesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 3:25 to 4:30 a.m. each day, with detours and stop cancellations between Pasing and Daglfing/Ostbahnhof. These trains do not stop from Laim to Rosenheimerplatz and at Leuchtenbergring."

So, there is nothing to worry about train transport. Just download either the DB or the MVV app, type in your destination and buy the 9€ ticket.* You will certainly have a better use for the €80 you saved, and the cab is no faster than the S-Bahn. The S-Bahn station is in the central section of the Airport, marked "Z".

MUC is way easier than CDG. French is largely useless here, just use your English, it works fine. All the best for you and your child.
