Hello. I'd been planning on traveling from Marburg (or, 2nd choice, from Frankfurt) to Berlin early on May 21. Are many of the trains in that area not in service that day? Does anyone know where I could find (if it's construction-related) updated information in English? I'm hesitant to plan the one 50 stop local train option if there's an overriding issue that might change that. When trains don't run, are buses offered? What do folks do? Thanks for any suggestions.
If you look at www.bahn.com, you will see a warning triangle:
RE 4152: Marburg(Lahn)->Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe: Construction work. This train will arrive 20 minutes late. Please check your itinerary again shortly before departure.
It shows trains which have connection times of over 30 minutes in Kassel or Hanover as no problem, obviously because with a 20 minute delay, there is plenty of time to make the connection. So the 7:20 and 9:51 departures show no warnings, because they have 35 minute connection times. So I'd book one of those. Once you get to Hanover, there are trains to Berlin at least every hour. If you do miss one, there will be another along before too long, and if the delay is caused by DB, they will get you on the next train. If you have a seat reservation, they will make you a new one. Been there, done that.
