Traveling Germany, where else to go?

Hi, im traveling to Germany with my family for 3 weeks in August, we would like to go to other places in europe. Any recommendations?
We will be arriving in Berlin, staying a couple of days there then going up to hamburg.
We've heard about a bus to Holland. Were else could we go, what city or countries should we visit?

Thanks

While there is nothing against the Netherlands (Holland is just a part of it), Germany is a huge and diverse country. Having seen Berlin and Hamburg, is not having seen Germany. Close to Hamburg you'll find the more historical port city of Lübeck. The island of Rügen might come as welcome change from city life. Going south of Berlin, there is the attractive Harz area, and the historical cities of Dresden, Leipzig and Erfurt. And this is just a small part of the country. Get a guidebook and see what's more on offer in Germany.
There are buses to the Netherlands, but the most comfortable way is to take the train. Advance buying of the tickets through the website of the Deutsche Bahn gives very considerable discount.

Copenhagen, Denmark would make a nice trip. We made a drive there, stayed a couple of days, then took a ferry to Sweden for the day, then back again to Denmark.

From Germany you can go wherever you want. In addition to seeing other parts of Germany, or taking a train to one of the many adjoining countries, you could take a short flight to anywhere in Europe.

So, what do you WANT to see in addition? How long do you have for the whole trip; is it 3 weeks in Germany or 3 weeks total? What draws you to Germany?

More details will give a better answer.

IMHO, a couple days in Berlin is not enough. I spent 5 nights there this spring and still had things I wanted to do. Besides Hamburg, is that all you're planning to see in Germany?

And as the prior poster said, some more specifics about your interests would be helpful.
