Traveling from Dinkelsbul to Rothenburg

Hello my wife and I are going to be traveling in Germany in October. We wish to travel from Rothenburg to Dinlelsbuhl. I've used I've been using Trainline to buy tickets, but they show no connection between those two cities. I understand there may be a bus. If anyone knows how to do this please tell me

Thanks

If you google “dinkelsbuhl to rothenburg ob der tauber” a map will appear. Click on the train symbol. This will show you public transportation options. Then change “leave now” to your date and time. You’ll see the various options. Click on one for details. This will also give you a link to purchase tickets. You may need to translate the page to English.

On one random day it looks like you can go by bus in just under 2 hours with one connection.

Use https://www.bahn.com/en and it will show you all the departures and prices. Bus is the fastest way and you will see that it is a VGN network ticket with one transfer.

You can also look at www.vgn.de/en This service is operated by the VGN, the Greater Nuremberg Transit authority, and they sell the tickets

"I've been using Trainline to buy tickets..."

Bill, buying tickets in advance for shorter trips on regional trains or transportation almost never makes sense.

With your travel dollars and your travel ease in mind, I'd strongly suggest you spell out in this thread the as-yet-unpurchased journeys (with dates) that you may have in mind at this point, with the goal of getting some feedback from those whose first German railway-rodeo was followed by years of experience.

There's no train station in Dinkelsbühl. You can only get there by bus from Nördlingen or from Rothenburg by way of Dombühl or Ansbach.

In 2007, on my Romantic Road trip, I spent a night in Nördlingen, then went by bus to Dinkelsbühl for a few hours, then to Feuchtwangen for the night. Next morning I went by bus to Rothenburg via Dombühl.

It might be a case for a taxi. There is about 35 minutes between the two towns using the A7 Autobahn, not counting any mild holdup with the construction on the A7 around Rothenburg o.d. Tauber, compared with 2 hours bus.

Without a car the two towns (I like both) are not particularly well linked.
