Travel to Rothenburg ob der Tauber from Munich in July 2016

I am planning a trip in July to Germany for my mother-in-law and son. They will be spending 5 days in Munich then heading to Frankfurt. I am trying to fit in Rothenburg as a trip. Here are my questions:

  1. Should I plan this as a day trip from Munich or should they travel to Rothenburg en route to Frankfurt and stay over a night?

  2. I have read reviews that stores and attractions are closed on Sundays. Is this true all the time or will stores be open on Sundays during tourist season (July)? Is there a way I can find out?

  3. What is the best method to travel from Munich to Rothenburg? Train? Any specific recommendations?

Thanks

number two

Both France and Germany observe Sunday as a day of rest. Normal stores will be closed. Museums will be open. Some tourist areas may have a few stores open. Stores on motorway service areas will be open.

Is there a particular store you are interested in? Maybe google them and send them an email?

This is a duplicate post of another identical.

There are more answers on the twin, also in the Germany Forum.
