Travel to Germany

We are 2 couples arriving in Frankfurt via Delta about 8:30 am and will be getting a regional train to Cochem from the airport. We have not purchased any tickets ahead and understand we will have a transfer in Koblenz . I understand the train station is next to Terminal 1 but can anyone give a brief description on how to find it after going thru customs and any tips on buying tickets once there? Thanks!

Delta uses Terminal 2, so you need to get to Terminal 1, where the train stations are located. You can either take the buses that come every 10 min. or the Skytrain. The buses stop right next to the escalators that take you down to the Regional Train station.
Just follow the signs for Regional Trains or S-Bahn. (look for the big green S)
The signs are everywhere!

For a Regional train going in the direction of Koblenz, you would go to track #3. You might have to take the S-bahn to Mainz and switch trains there?
There is a DB Travel Center located right next to the escalators at the Regional Train Station. They can print your tickets for you (this will cost you 2 euro), take credit cards for payments and give you information about schedules. There are also DB ticket machines with touch screens you can use, and these switch into English.

To get from terminal 2 to terminal 1 you need to take the bus. We were there in May and the skytrain was being worked on. From terminal 1 to the trains just walk across to the next building and the trains are in the bottom.

The Skytrain was back in business on 24 June.
Normally I advise the Skytrain over the bus, but in this case, the bus is better because it stops right at the entry to the escalators going to the Regional Train station.

yep, take the bus, cross the road in front of the bus, go through the door, go up the escalator, walk straight about 100 feet until you hit the main corridor, turn right (you can only turn right), and walk until you hit a big open area at the end of the corridor. ticket office, with its abysmally slow line, will be right in front of you. I generally use the machines, they're pretty easy to learn. Be sure to hustle when you hit Koblenz--the transfers are usually less than 10 minutes. Never had a problem.
