Travel to Bernkastel-Kues - how to get there?

Hello! We've booked the Berlin, Prague, Vienna trip for the end of next September. I want to try and include Bernkastel-Kues on our itinerary while we're over there (my husband is from there, has family there but doesn't know them, long story). I would like for him to see his village but this is on the opposite side of Germany from where we will be. We haven't gotten our travel guide book yet and I was hoping to get some advice about this! I see they have no train running there but possibly might be a boat? Or a bus?
Thanks!

You will be taking the train to Wittlich, Germany. From there a connecting bus takes you to the Forum, Bernkastel-Kues stop in the Kues neighborhood, across the river from the old town zone. Walk or taxi to your hotel from there.

Enter your "from" City and "Forum, Bernkastel Kues" as your "to" station at DB railways site to find this journey. The bus ride at the end will also appear. There is no need to enter "Wittlich."

Alternative journeys might appear as well depending on the hour of the day using some other final rail station, but all the connections will be shown.
