I am traveling to Germany and Portugal so how does travel insurance work when visiting more than one country? Thanks

You simply list how long you will be gone and your destinations. If it only gives room for one, list the place you will spend the most time at but the total duration of the trip. One policy will cover.

The policies we used when we got individual trip policies always asked to list the countries; the policies are for a time period. We now get an annual policy that covers us for up to 90 days on any trip -- and also covers us for domestic travel and whatnot. If you travel often and especially if you are older and thus more expensive to insure, then an annual policy might make sense for you.
