Travel from Heidelberg to Munich to Fussen

If I understand correctly, I have to take the ICE train to Munich, then S Bahn to Fussen. One choice includes the "City-ticket" . Could that include my ticket to Fussen without buying an extra ticket? Thought I had this all down but trying to find tickets is getting a bit overwhelming. Seeing tickets from Heidelberg to Munich around $236 euros for all 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 teens. Then 46 euros for us from Munich to Fussen. Then we need to get tickets back to Heidelberg. Thoughts please., Thanks for the help in advance.

Heidelberg - Munich:

"Teens" is not a price category recognized by DB. If 15+, they are adults. You can normally find a SAVER fare for the high-speed train trips depending on availability. Is that €236 price the saver fare? Saver fares require you to use trains as scheduled on your ticket, and there are penalties for refunds, but they offer solid savings. Without their ages and your travel date and time, it's impossible for us to check on your behalf.

If €236 is really the best you an do, and you want to save Euros, click on the "only local transport" box when you do your search. You will find fares in the €50 - €70 range depending on your children's actual age and the travel date. This day pass option puts you on the regional trains instead of the high-speed trains - and the trip takes a couple of hours longer. This option offers flexibility - travel at any hour of the day, and buy your tickets right at the station in Germany - no advance purchase needed:

Weekday day pass (OK after 9 am) - https://www.bahn.com/en/view/offers/regional/day-ticket-for-germany.shtml
Sat or Sun day pass: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/offers/regional/weekend-ticket-for-germany.shtml

Nice try, but no. A city ticket covers travel by conveyance of the MVV (Munich metro), like buses or trams to get to your hotel, not travel onward by regional trains for Füssen, which is far outside the MVV district. However, if your stay in Munich is not too long, maybe 24 hours, before you go on to Füssen, you could probably book the train from Heidelberg to Füssen with a long stopover in Munich for about the same fare.

The S-Bahn does not go to Füssen, it's regional trains.

It would really be important for you to tell us the ages of your "teens". They are probably considered adults by the Bahn, but we don't know if you don't tell us.
