Agree! Train cost effective.
But we are older, have luggage & trying to make it easier for ourselves…

Older people travel by train all over Europe. Even with luggage.
But if you prefer car travel, I'm sure there are search engines that can give you suggestions if you don't get any suggestions here. Expect to pay around €400 for the trip.

089drivers and a few others do it for 270. But a Bayern-Ticket for two is €35, the taxi transfer from Vilshofen station to the dock is max. €20.
